The history of ClubOpolis

ClubOpolis was started by Patrick Coston (me) in the summer of 1994.

When I was in college, a friend of mine had SimCity Classic before SimCity 2000 was out. I never got to play it because there were always too many people crowded around his computer. I decided to buy it for myself but I never did. Then SimCity 2000 came out and I finally bought it along with the book SimCity 2000: Power, Politics, Planning.

I was instantly addicted. I wanted to learn as much as I could about SimCity 2000 so I started ClubOpolis.

Running ClubOpolis:

I lived in New York and worked for Prodigy(r) when I started the club. I wanted to become a better simmer and I figured running contests was a way to achieve this.

I left Prodigy after two years and moved to Seattle to be with my girlfriend. At that time, ClubOpolis went into a coma because I didn't have the time to keep it running because I was looking for a job.

I got a job at Microsoft and after I got settled at work I started to work on the web page some more. Once in a while I get really busy at work and have to ignore the web page for awhile, but for the most part, it's always growing.

Believe it or not, I have tons of content to put up. I have a "to do" list a mile long. Thankfully I get a lot of help from my e-friends. Oh sure, I have to promise to send them all 900+ cities or something like that, but it's worth it because I couldn't do it alone!
